Glasgow label Night School returns with a crate digging compilation of a lesser heralded UK underground entitled All The Young Droids: Junkshop Synth Pop 1978-1985. Collected once again by Phillip King (this selection preceded by his underground glam comp All The Young Droogs), the release mines a rich seam of 7 incredible years focusing on the synth-pop explosion between the rise of revolutionary efforts from the early industrial acts and the overground explosion of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, and the like. While hardware noise eventually found its place in the mainstream, it was the DIY gearheads like the ones highlighted in this comp rewiring punk with cheap synths and machines at home that pushed music forward during this incredibly fertile period.
