Cyrus, Quadrant, and of course Basic Channel; Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald have their share of enigmatic pseudonyms. This time, they revisit their remarkable Rhythm & Sound output. Originally released in 2002, the Aground / Aerial 12" sees the duo essentially throwing dub reggae into a black hole. The pops and shivers of vinyl colour the swing of one-drop backbeats into a murky, matte tone across both tracks’ measured paces, as ghostly vocalisations seep in and out of earshot -- particularly once the steady rhythm of ‘Aerial’ locks into place.
