In celebration of forty years, London’s On-U Sound has compiled an extended compilation of the Jamaican MC Prince Far I’s many appearances on the venerated record label. A legend of roots reggae for his production and gruff MCing, Far I frequently collaborated with On-U house band Singers and Players for a whole slew of hits. The cassette release of Cry Tuff Chants On U compiles eleven of these (including ‘Virgin’ and ‘Prodigal Son’) into an essential slice of dub history. A fitting tribute for a musician whose legacy lives on in spite of his early departure from this world.
