Taking the form of an electrifying night out, Ezra Collective’s third album is a metropolitan journey solidifying the band as leaders of the London jazz scene. Their vibrant kaleidoscopic influences of funk, reggae, afrobeat, and more form acts separated by orchestral interludes, with their smooth syncopation rising above the hustle and bustle of the crowd. Uptempo frenzied fingers on frets are soaked in wah, dreamy Rhodes chords play in serpentine lines, and trumpets add a distinct Caribbean flavour, glued together by guest vocalists like Olivia Dean on the smoky and soulful ‘No One’s Watching Me’.
