Building upon his Temporary Stored album of 2022, KMRU invites a selection of contemporaries to reappropriate alongside him the sounds of Africa from the archives of European museums. Recordings from all over Africa across the latter twentieth century appear in watery plucks under layers of static, or rattling metal, chants, and flutes revolving amidst reverent synth palettes and intertwining layers of melody. In response, Lamin Fofana seems to untangle music from the vast soundscape body of water, Nyokabi Kariũki audibly flicks through the archives as she intones, and Jessica Ekomane morphs material into percussive, hyper tactile stabs and plucks.
