New York/London producer DJ Python makes his debut on XL with a new EP entitled I was put on this earth. The ever-prolific Python is coming off a generational run of singles, albums and remixes across various projects (and genres) both solo and in tandem with fellow travellers like Ana Roxanne, Ela Minus, and Nick León, just to name a few. I was put on this earth then acts like a survey course for this flurry, folding in new wrinkles to his luxuriously rhythmic style by pulling fresh collaborators into his sonic world. Tracks like the low end heaving ‘Besos Robados’ cruise along at trip-hop tempo while Isabella Lovestory minds the curves, while the minimalist electronica crunch of closer ‘Elio’s Lived Behind My House Forever’ could be DJ Python’s first true epic.
