The Milan label brings UK composer/multi-instrumentalist Daniel Blumberg’s award-winning soundtrack of The Brutalist to vinyl. Known primarily for his status in the UK underground that circles around the infamous Cafe Oto in London, Blumberg’s work here mirrors the intensity and almost reckless ambition of the film’s protagonist, the fictional Hungarian architect László Toth (as played by Adrien Brody). A particularly fraught scene set in a jazz club is enriched further by a quartet assembled and conducted by Blumberg. The playing here reflects the sort of boundless playing that has made him among the most buzzed-about artists in experimental music.
