Samuel Smith’s second album since 2020 and first for Dekmantel takes things all the way back to his early house records under his given name, updated with the decade of dancefloor carnage he has wrought as Ploy. Just when you think you’ve reached the peak of any track on this album, Ploy tells you It’s Later Than You Think, and adds another layer of surging brazen synths, and relentlessly chugging rhythms rich in vibrant percussion. This is house with the energy of a rollercoaster ride, organs vibrating and flying around as each track amps up then dives into the full force of the four to the floor.
