Moins' Belly Up EP follows on from 2024’s You Never End, providing 6 new tracks keeping the unstoppable momentum of this unique trio going. At its centre the wayward shuffles of drums akimbo on ‘See’ put the toms in the spotlight, backing Ben Vince’s endlessly tunnelling saxophone and Sophia Al-Maria’s spoken word, picking up from their previous collaboration on ‘Lift You’ as she rattles off perspective altering truths punctuated with a nonchalant “see?”. ‘X.U.Y.’ is the yin to the yang of ‘See’, a kind of skeletal grunge sound of sparse drums and thin riffs filled out by buzzing bass tones and illegible vocal loops, the two stand out songs come nestled in a collection further heaping on the layers of electronics and bristling guitars.
