Synth pioneers Tangerine Dream celebrate 50 years of their classic fifth LP Phaedra with this new deluxe reissue. The very first of their efforts to be recorded entirely with sequencers and other electronics, Phaedra was a landmark release in the development of electronic synthesis, while also standing on its own as a tremendous artistic statement. Tracks like constantly-shifting ‘Movements Of A Visionary’ use the sequencer to make the music appear to be moving towards something beyond the sonic field, as if there’s some sort of horizon in the room with you, while the mournful closer ‘Sequent ‘C’’ recreates an entire string section with simple machines.
