Carl Craig is a Detroit original through and through, and it's shocking it took this long for a documentary about the man to surface. To call him merely a master technician in the studio and on the decks is selling the man short, but the meat of Desire focuses on his musical gifts and his ability to build community around the world with a steady kick drum. This soundtrack on Craig’s own Planet E Communications then functions kind of like a greatest hits compilation, running from his earliest efforts as Psyche and Innerzone Orchestra to later day hits along with a few treasured rarities and previously lost recordings cleaned and ready to sweeten the pot.
