Juan Atkin's legendary label Metroplex brings a classic slice of motor city machine funk back to wax yet again with a reissue of DJ Bone’s 1999 Riding The Thin Line EP. One of Bone’s many beloved releases on Metroplex, the Detroit producer finds a steady (and heady) balance between experimental textures and dancefloor-filling satisfaction here that still feels beamed in from the future. The alien voice textures on ‘The Funk’ feel scrambled in from a UFO as sizzling explode all around, while closer ‘The Haunting’ pairs peak time BPMs with oozing synths and chopped vocals edge closer to the chill out room.
