There’s never not a new Aleksi Perälä release coming out in the near future as he maintains a constant stream of music dropping, but when one such album finds its way to vinyl, it’s a momentous occasion indeed. Vortex 1 infuses the classic sounds of rave, breakbeat, and dancefloor oriented electronica with eerie and ethereal atmospheres, throwing the metallic melodies of pipes and bells into barking whirlwinds of percussive ruckus. This is a pneumatic record, constantly reconfiguring its contorted collage of blade cut rhythms amidst dreamy arpeggios and squelching acid melodies.
