Every time a new TRON movie has come out, it seems like the absolute perfect artists have been tapped to sonify its endlessly endearing virtual world. First it was the pioneering Wendy Carlos, then the iconic Daft Punk; with TRON: Ares, Nine Inch Nails take the helm to staggering effect. The jagged, ultra physical EBM and synth-wave of ‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’ growls and sparks, with steamy closeup vocals focussing on every exhalation. It’s a cross between technological horror and seductive devotion that hits the sweet spot for hair-raising sci fi action.
