Flaer returns to the ODDA Recordings label for his debut full length LP entitled Translations. While moving away from the familial environs of 2023’s Preludes mini-LP (on which he recorded entirely with instruments from his and his mother’s respective childhoods), Flaer retains some of that familiarity via weathered and decaying voice recordings of his linguist mother. Field recordings and other digital ephemera glide their way into the sonic field here, but it’s Flaer’s patient key and string playing alongside the swelling orchestral maneuvers that differentiate this remarkable record from others in this realm.
