In the wake of Cindy Lee’s surprising, though well-earned breakthrough in 2024 (as well as Patrick Flegel’s decision to pull the full discography off DSPs), the W.25TH label is bringing all of the project’s works back to vinyl starting with 2020’s Cat O’ Nine Tails. Originally more of a tour-only style curio pressed to just 50 lathe cuts, Cat O’ Nine Tails has since become something of a holy grail for Cindy Lee heads. Traces of the shadow-y girl-group inspired guitar manglings Cindy would master on Diamond Jubilee can be heard here, making tracks like the rugged title tracks appear almost like dry runs for greatness to come. Nevertheless, there’s a beguiling and adventurous spirit to these recordings that make them an essential addition to the catalogue in their own right.
